Pineapple Rum BBQ Sauce

Pineapple Rum BBQ Sauce is the perfect tropical compliment to chicken, ribs and pork. This easy to make BBQ sauce is sure to please your guests at your next summer BBQ. I made this sauce with Ron Viejo De Caldas. It is a Colombian rum aged in oak casks. It’s price point and taste make it perfect for using in BBQ sauce. You can use any dark rum for this recipe.

Ingredients

  • 2 Cups Ketchup

  • 1 Cup Apple Cider Vinegar

  • 1 Cup Packed Brown Sugar

  • 1/2 Cup Dark Rum

  • 3 Tbs Pineapple Juice

  • 2 Tbs Honey

  • 1 Tbs Worcestershire Sauce

  • 2 Tsp Yellow Mustard

  • 1 Tsp Onion Powder

  • 1/2 Tsp Fresh Ground Pepper

  • 1/2 Tsp Kosher Salt

  • 1/2 Tsp Fresh Ground Ginger

Directions

  • Whisk ingredients together in medium sauce pan.
  • Bring mixture to a boil and reduce to simmer. Simmer for 10 Minutes.
  • Turn off heat and let sauce cool to room temperature.
  • Put sauce in your preferred jar or bottle and serve. Store left over sauce in refrigerator.
